Pamela,
If you need help figuring out if the co-op plan will be able to hold it's own and generate income or if you are in need of some tax shelters, you might want to consult an accountant but my recommendation would be first, start making money, then pay someone to help you with your books. If you have significant personal assets to protect, you might want to consult an attorney, particularly if you sign the space lease personally. And you will need insurance.
Make sure also that you are on the mailing list so that you will know when the craft business course is up because there will be a section on opening and operating aco-op gallery. You can get on the list by putting your name and email up on the right hand side of this page.

Interesting article. Have just been researching the Spring/Summer 2012 colours to see what I need to focus on. This article confirms I'm moving in the right direction. Thanks.

Comment on Find your Life Purpose or Calling in Your Life Theme? by Terri

Hi Terri!

Your article on one's life calling just ripped at my heart strings today!!!!

I am a textile designer by trade, but a "creative junky" at heart. I worked in the trade for 10 years, after studying Textile Design for 4 years. Gathered plenty experience and travelled widely.

After being retrenched I started my own business 1 year ago. Doing mainly screen printing for corporates/promotions.

A fine artist friend moved into my studio 6 months ago and turned my world upside down. Got me painting an drawing again, after years behind a computer.

The lid has been blown off our creative pot, and we work well together. Our studio is a tiny workshop in an old industrial area in East London, South Africa. We have been so blessed in this space, started art workshops for kids, as well as free prophetic art workshops - releasing others into their own creativity. Our motto is "uncover, explore, cultivate ur creativity".

I have realised that there is such a demand for info, structured plans, ideas etc amongst many people who have lifelong dreams of art/craft businesses that have never been fulfilled because they don't know where to start. And I spent alot of time giving advise, encouraing them to make dream/story boards, thinking the product through, finances, marketing etc.

But I am not a business fundy myself - design, development, sourcing, production, quality etc I can handle. Keep any business plans, strategies and anything resembling accounting away from me. I let other people do what they are good at.

I suppose my question is how do you help these people without having it influence your productivity. I know for sure that part of my calling in life is to make others aware of their own creativity & "call the gold out of them". So that they can step into their own destiny. But I still have to make a living?

The many turns that your life has taken has been a great inspiration to me today!

Blessings
